Ikebana is a sculptural art form that originated from the floral religious offerings composed by Japanese and Chinese monks. The Diploma of Ikebana has been developed using this historical background and blends this with contemporary ideas and forms. It encompasses instruction in Ceramics, Art, Drawing & painting, Philosophy, Photography and Computer design in addition to Ikebana.

REQUIREMENTS TO RECEIVE THE QUALIFICATION

Recipients of the award of Dip. IKB 30661 QLD. will have successfully completed all modules as listed below.

ADMISSION CRITERIA

Learners must satisfy one or more of the following criteria:

Year 12 (High School)
· Completed Year 12 or equivalent with an acceptable portfolio (eg 10 -15 examples of work) of material to satisfy the Australian International College of Art; or

Recognition of Current Competency (RCC)
¨ Be able to demonstrate a natural or learned ability by Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) processes acceptable to the Australian International College of Art; or


Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
· Spent at least one (1) year in an associated industry (e.g. horticulture, flower retailing); or

· Spent at least one (1) year studying associated subjects (e.g. modern art, art expression etc.)


And
Computing Skills

Basic computing skills including, log-on/log-off, use of, keyboard, mouse, floppy disk and CD-ROM hardware. Capable of creating, saving and accessing files within basic software packages (eg word-processing)
A LAPTOP COMPUTER capable of processing all the software required for the course.
Wireless Network capability would be an advantage.
Software required for the course can be purchased at Student discounts through the College after payment of College Fees.


Overseas Applicants


Overseas applicants must have an English Literacy level of IELTS 5 (modest English)

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applicants who may have completed appropriate learning or, those who believe they have gained the required skills and knowledge necessary to complete particular modules may apply to the Australian Ikebana Centre to undertake a formal Recognition of Prior Learning of the program as outlined in AQTF. Applicants may be eligible who can demonstrate current competency in any, or all of the Units of Competency by providing evidence such as:
